Thr Pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea
Not to be missed in the immediate vicinity of Borgo Donna Canfora is Tropea, rightly known as the Pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is a magical and picturesque place capable of surprising and enchanting. That's mainly because it is built on a natural terrace on the edge of a promontory that is reflected in a wonderful sea.
The historic center is magnificent, with its picturesque alleys, Baroque palaces, large courtyards and majestic portals, and still retains the original urban structure of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Worth visiting are the 13th-century Cathedral in pre-Romanesque style and the small church of Santa Maria dell'Isola, an ancient Benedictine abbey that stands on a cliff.
Shopping is also a pleasure, with boutiques, characteristic places, ice-cream parlors and restaurants that stay open until late at night.
